Pro-YPG/SDF demonstrations turn violent in German cities
In Stuttgart, a gathering organized by YPG/SDF backers rapidly turns disorderly. Demonstrators set off fireworks, lash out at passing vehicles, and confront police officers. As tensions escalate and protesters attempt to force their way through police barricades, officers respond by using pepper spray to disperse the crowd.
“Our officers were unfortunately exposed to massive violent acts,” said a police spokesman. “It was only due to fortunate circumstances that no officers were injured.”
Authorities temporarily detain 75 individuals on suspicion of disturbing public order, assaulting law enforcement, and breaching explosives and assembly regulations. Those detained undergo identity verification and fingerprinting before being released.
Security forces document the disturbances using video recordings and deploy a helicopter to monitor the situation from above. Officials state that the collected footage will be reviewed to identify suspects and pursue legal action against those involved.
Comparable scenes unfold in Dortmund, where demonstrators aligned with the YPG/SDF target a Syrian restaurant close to the city’s main train station. Protesters throw chairs and tables and shatter windows, causing extensive damage.
Although police formally disband the Dortmund rally, confrontations continue in surrounding streets. Demonstrators hurl firecrackers and other pyrotechnics at officers, while some use iron bars to attack police. Several officers suffer injuries during the clashes.
